Coaching Certification (North Perth Outlaws Lacrosse)

PrintCoaching Certification
Coaching Certification refers to the courses required to be taken in order to be a certified coach.  They vary depending on the age group of the team and experience of the coach.

House League coaches are not required to complete any coaching certification clinics.

The OLA will publish a schedule for all box lacrosse or combined box/field lacrosse clinics which are held in March and April of each year.  These clinics must be completed before the first scheduled event of the season.  Coaches are responsible for registering through the OLA website for the clinic that is most convenient for their schedule.

NEW REP COACHES

All new rep-level lacrosse coaches are required to complete the introductory coaching certification course called “Community Development” at an OLA sponsored certification clinic.  Once the Community Development course has been completed successfully, it is not required to be re-taken in subsequent years.

RETURNING REP COACHES

Only returning rep-level coaches in 14U (Bantam) and above divisions are required to complete a second coaching certification course called “Competitive Introduction” at an OLA sponsored certification clinic.  Once the Competitive Introduction course has been completed successfully (including the submission of the Coaching Workbook), it is not required to be re-taken in subsequent years.

These coaches are also required to take the online concussion awareness module called “Making Headways”.

Returning rep-level coaches in the 12U (PeeWee) and lower divisions are not required to complete the Competitive Introduction course.
