Good Growth at Year End Provincials
The season came to an end this past long weekend as the North Perth PeeWee Outlaws headed to Provincials looking to bring home some hardware!

Well what can be said about the growth and development from each and everyone from this past year of PeeWee Lacrosse?  A lot, plain and simple. They started the season with a record number of new players, nine to be exact. Most teams would have never guessed that after playing this PeeWee team. You can trace this back to the whole coaching staff with the time and dedication it takes to help and train each and everyone of the players. That being said, the PeeWee Outlaw team headed to Whitby and Oshawa this past long weekend for the year end Provincial tournament.

Game one had the PeeWee squad up against a strong Toronto Beaches team. This may have been the best game of the year! They came out with a 7-6 victory. This game was fast, physical, and had great end-to-end action. It was also a game that saw a total of 18 penalty minutes and goals from No, 3 Blake Elzinga, No. 78 Nathan Coverdale, No. 87 Chad Simpson (1st of season) and No. 73 Brayden Parsons. The lone assist was No. 84 Talis Baldwin The end of this game showed to be a rough one. No. 1 Emmalin McLaughlin, as usual, kept the Outlaws in the game with key saves throughout the match.

Game 2 had the Outlaws up against Stoufville. This game was a thrilling matchup that had seven goals alone in the first period by the Outlaws.  Goals came from No. 3 Blake Elzinga, No. Jackson Kuepfer, No. 15 Nathan Coverdale, and No. 16 Brayden Parsons. Assists were from No 8 Madeline Ellis, No. 2 Nolan Vessie, No. 15 Nathan Coverdale, No. 1 Emmalin McLaughlin, No. 9 Jackson Kuepfer, No. 17 Jaxson Beirnes, No. 11 Brayden Ridley, No. 6 James Bridges, No. 16 Brayden Parsons, and No 7 Bryce Collinson. Let's note that in this game goalie No. 1 Emmalin McLaughlin got two assists!  The Outlaws took this game 10-5, going 2-0 to start!

Game 3 saw a familiar face of Brantford come to play against the Outlaws. These kids certainly hadn't forgotten the last time these two teams played each other. The Outlaws came up short on this one and lost 3-0, however, this game certainly was closer than the score.  Every single player contributed in one way or another, from power plays, to penalty kills.  Some great penalty killing by No. 3 Blake Elzinga, No. 14, Talis Baldwin, No. 4 Zoe Verwey, No. 6 James Bridges, and No. 13 Oliver Sawchuck.  This game also had some great passing from No. 2 Nolan Vessie, No. 9 Jackson Kuepfer, and No .18 Travis Beaven which helped set up some good quality scoring chances.

Game four on Saturday evening had the Outlaws looking to play Sunday, but they had to get past West Durham first. The kids had to stay loose for some extra time as a delay in the game before had them starting 45min behind. This certainly didn't deter the PeeWees as they came out ready to play. The first period ended tied at one.  The goal came from No. 15 Nathan Coverdale with assists from No. 3 Blake Elzinga and No 17. Jaxson Beirnes. The second period was carbon copy of the first with both teams getting two more goals to end it 3-3 after two. Goals from No. 3 Blake Elzinga and No. 15 Nathan Coverdale had the PeeWees all tied up. No. 7 Bryce Collinson had the loan assist. The third period had net minder No. 1 Emmalin McLaughlin show just how good she is by making save after save to keep this Outlaw team in it. Unfortunately West Durham was able to get three goals in the final period to take a stranglehold on the game as they were able to keep the lead and win to move onto Sunday.

This meant the end of the tournament and the season for the North Perth Outlaws PeeWee team. Even though this was a tough loss, I watched the kids come out after the game with smiles on their faces.  Truthfully, not as big as if they were coming out to a win, but I think they knew they all played hard and had fun doing so. With that, I want to say what a great job everyone did and thank you to all the coaches and executives to make this a great season! Til next year!
