First week of games Recap
The first week of games are now behind us and if week 1 was any indication, the season will be exciting on the field this summer.  In the U9/U11 division scores were 5-1 and 5-3 and in U13/U15 scores were 6-4 and 5-4.  With competition close, games weren’t decided until the final whistle.  As players, coaches, and officials become more comfortable with the modified rules and current format, expectations are high for games to become more high-paced and action packed.

With small team rosters and a 3 on 3 format, all players will be more involved in game play and have the opportunity to significantly improve their skills and lacrosse IQ. Teamwork, understanding, and patience from our players, coaches, and parents is key to ensuring that everybody has a safe and fun season.  The North Perth Outlaws is one big team this summer and the better we do, the more competitive our program will be when we return to a more traditional format next season.

We want to give a big thank you to our U9/U11 families for their strong communication with our coaches to ensure that players absences are known ahead of time.  This allows things to run much more smoothly on game days.

With the new game and league format, among other changes, it is understandable that we will have to remind ourselves of a few things over the course of the summer.

Every coach, parent, player, and team official need to ensure that they have read our code of conduct to guarantee that we all represent the association in a positive way and help maximize the enjoyment of every player.  https://northperthoutlaws.ca/Pages/1060/Code_of_Conduct/

Also, all spectators and coaches must wear masks at all times while on site. We have been in communication with the OLA and our health unit and this requirement will not be changing for step 3 of the reopening plan, even though our events take place outdoors.  We will be reviewing step 3 guidelines once we have received them.  We have a zone meeting this Sunday and our executive will be meeting next week to review all rules and make any necessary adjustments.  With our season budget set, we do know that we will not be moving to a full indoor season.  With regards to spectator limits, we will be increasing them to allow 2 spectators per player.

We are also looking to fill open positions on the executive until our next AGM in October, when all positions will be up for election.  We are in need of a fundraising/sponsorship/promotions director and a development director. With the season well under way duties will be mostly limited to attending executive meetings and making preparations for next season.  If you are interested in helping please contact our president at [email protected]

Again, thank you for your patience and understanding as we progress through this summer.  With only 6 weeks left in the season we will continue to work together as a team to ensure that all players are safe, have fun, and get better.

Go Outlaws!
