Game 5 vs Guelph
Although going in undermanned with only 10 runners, North Perth Intermediates managed to put up 2 periods of solid lacrosse before losing steam and the game.
North Perth took an early lead 1-0 on a goal by newly acquired transition player Garett Stafford. Stafford sent in alone on a breakaway with a pass from Bret Harris deposited a shot over the shoulder of the Guelph netminder. Guelph took control from there in the goal department but not without some determination of the Intermediates. Down 3-1 after the first North Perth rang no less then 10 shots off the post throughout the game. Down 4-1 after 2, the tank seemed to get depleted for the third as goalie Ben Underwood faced a barrage of shots. Guelph managed to score 4 in the third to seal the win 8-1.
Coach Gord Harris said "with the limited amount of players we manage to outrun Guelph for 2 periods, catching them flat footed which gave us many breakaways. We just got unlucky hitting the post that many times. with a few of them finding the net, it could have changed the game."
Without a win to their credit, it's only a matter of time before we get a full and healthy squad back. Playing well and sinking some of the chances will lead to victories.
After a few practices the Intermediates take on Cambridge Friday June 15 8:00pm at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex.
