Milton bests North Perth by One!
Last Thursday saw two evenly-matched teams come together in what ended up being a nail-biter that went down to the wire!

The Milton Mavericks 2 team made the trek to the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex last Thursday to face an Outlaws team riding high. These two teams certainly didn't disappoint!

The first period got under way by Milton creating pressure offensively, only to meet the wall of the Outlaws. There were a number of players that stood tall in the house to take away a lot of good scoring opportunities. No. 30 Seth Teatero got the call between the pipes in this match and made it difficult for the Mavericks to get one by him. There was plenty of offence in this period as No. 9 Jackson Kuepfer, No. 18 Travis Beaven, No. 4 Zoe Verwey, and No. 8 Madeline Ellis all pushed forward to lead the charge. With many scoring chances the Milton tender had the Outlaws number in the opening period, not allowing a goal. The end of the first saw the Mavericks 2 team up 2-0.

Starting the second period had the North Perth captain, No. 3 Blake Elzinga, along with No. 12 Chloe Eskrick, No. 7 Bryce Collinson, No. 2 Nolan Vessie, and No. 13 Oliver Sawchuc, ready to get the ball rolling. No. 3 Blake Elzinga was able to score three times against Milton's lone goal of the period, which put the teams tied at three.  The assists came from No. 8 Madeline Ellis, No. 11 Chad Simpson, No. 9 Jackson Kuepfer, and No. 13 Oliver Sawchuck.

Heading into the final period both teams went back and forth, exchanging great scoring chances and key defensive plays. No. 15 Nathan Coverdale and No. 16 Brayden Parsons both put forth a solid offensive effort but couldn't muster a goal. No. 6 James Bridges, No. 14 Travis Baldwin, and No.18 Travis Beaven played strong defensively and made it difficult for the Mavericks. Unfortunately, the Milton team scored a goal with 5 mins left in the period to go up by one. Milton then put on their defensive hats and wouldn't let the Outlaws get one back. As the buzzer sounded to end the game, all the parents cheered on to show the kids just how good of a game it was.
