Outlaws Out-Matched vs. Nifty Kitchener Braves 2
Tonight saw the Outlaws up against the Kitchener Braves 2 team at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex. North Perth struggled from the first face-off and lost a tough battle.

The North Perth Outlaws ran into a very disciplined Kitchener Braves 2 team this evening and, despite playing their hearts out all game, they just could't get anything rolling.

The game started off with a solid first shift by No. 9 Jackson Kuepfer who had a good rush and scoring opportunity. The quick-passing Braves team had the Outlaws goal tender No. 30 Emmalin Mclaughlin on her toes for most of the game. No. 5 Karch Fletcher had some hot hands in the first period, having multiple scoring chances by showing some sweet hand skills and undressing a couple of the Braves defensemen. The Braves just had the Outlaws number tonight and scored 4 first period goals ending the first 4-0.

The second period had No. 18 Travis Beaven go one-on-one, getting past the Braves defence, but couldn't get it by their netminder. However, No. 9 Jackson Kuepfer had an incredible rush and in he made a slick move to jump past their D-man and snipe it in to get the Outlaws' first goal of the game.  No. 10. Ryan Heimpel, No. 15 Nathan Coverdale, No. 5 Karch Fletcher, and No. 12 Chloe Eskrick all gave the the Braves a hard time while on the penalty kill, limiting the Braves to any good scoring chances. Unfortunately, the Braves would solve our defence and get three more goals before the second ended, making it 7-1.

Going into the final period, Coach Ellis tried to rally his troops and get something going. It certainly lit a fire under the behinds of a few and the physicality of the game picked up. No. 2 Nolan Vessie, No. 15 Nathan Coverdale, and No. 9 Jackson Kuepfer all started the physical play while boxing it up in their end making sure the Kitchener forwards were unable to penetrate the box. No. 11 Brayden Ridley and No. 13 Oliver Sawchuck were both tough against this Braves team. Not to be outdone, No. 10  Ryan Heimpel stole the ball by making a sneaky pick and going and getting a good shot off.

Tonight the Outlaws lost a tough one 10-1. North Perth has some well-deserved days off until their next game, which is July 3rd when the Outlaws go on the road to meet up with the Cambridge Chiefs 3 team.
